The first true winter storm for southern New England this year is brewing in the southwest. A brief period of icing may occur tonight and tomorrow. Then a large swath of snow and ice will overtake the region by Sunday Night. Right now, indications are that snow accumulation in Keene on the order of 4 to 7 inches is possible, plus up to a quarter to half an inch of freezing rain and sleet accumulation. Because this is the first real winter senario for the region this season, everyone must be prepared for the hazards of significant ice and snow accumulations. For now, all updates on the winter storm (including probabilities for a delay on Tuesday) will be posted in the winter weather outlook page of Keene Weather.

On the main page, the story over the next week will focus on the impending pattern change that I promised everyone a week or so ago. Everything is in line now for highs dropping into the teens and 20's and possibly our first below zero temperatures overnight through at least next weekend.

Winter is arriving on Monday! Stay tuned!
